I decided to make my beautiful cousin, Sasha a hat for her birthday, which was the 3rd:) I am awesome at giving people gifts; not so awesome at giving gifts on time. Anyways, I picked out this gorgeous hat pattern online on the
Woolly Wormhead website. The pattern called for double pointed needles however, which I haven't used before (I always opt to use circular needles) but I thought "No problem. I can do anything!" Oh, how wrong could I be?... At one point I literally threw my mess across the room. After two hours of watching video tutorials and trying over and over I finally just sat it down and walked away. I had a small break with Martha Stewart and some Oreo cookies. I thought about giving up on double pointed needles altogether, but then I thought about the day when I'm going to want to make socks... Am I just not going to make them because it's too frustrating to learn this new technique? No way! I'm no quitter!
I gathered the courage to try again and got it on my first try. Sometimes I think that I must think that something is going to be harder than it actually is and so I make it harder on myself... Now I am finally working on the hat and, although I've had to take it out about 4 times, I just know it's going to be so pretty:) Another day, another lesson learned.
Isn't this color so awesome? Yard sale baby!
I tried to knit a couple of years ago....that didn't last too long. :) I do love that color of the hat though! Cute!
ReplyDeleteYou just needed a break with the oreo cookies! Love the color! Can't wait to see it finished!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try the dp needles, however I continue to shy away. I'll get the courage soon. Right now I need to finish an overdue birthday present (an afghan) for my 4 year old niece. I love handmade presents...so much fun and so gosh-darn meaningful!
ReplyDeleteGreat readd thank you
