My favorite Summer read thus far...

I've done quite a bit of reading this summer, but I must say nothing hit the spot like The Persian Pickle Club by Sandra Dallas. The story really brings you back into another time, when being a lady meant something different than what it means today. The book was set in Kansas during the Depression in the 1930s. It was centered around a little quilting club and was well equipped with drama, scandal, mystery, and above all, friendship:) One thing that the Persian Pickle Club made that I thought was just the coolest idea ever was a celebrity quilt. They sent squares to celebrities to sign and then embroidered the signatures then quilted the squares together. How awesome is that?! If I were to make a celebrity quilt I think I would send my squares to Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Oprah, Kate Winslet, Brad Paisley, etc. etc. I'm pretty sure celebrities wouldn't take the time to sign a quilting square and then send it back nowadays though... I bet Brad Paisley would:) Anyways, the book really made me want to start a cute little quilting club with my friends, but then I realized I'm the only one who likes to be an old lady... Oh well, that's what fun little books like this are for! If you're anything like me (and my husband who read it before me, haha) you'll LOVE this book! Read it asap.

  2. Don't think you're the only one that is an "old lady". Katie and I went shopping and she just picked plain, classic clothes, nothing trendy. She looked at me and said, "Mom, am I an old lady?" Yes, you both are and I couldn't love it more! Mona
